The festival is celebrated by the Chiefs and people of Ve-Lukusi Traditional area in the Hohoe Municipality. It is an annual festival celebrated in November every year.

It is celebrated like most Akan festivals culminating in a colourful durbar of chiefs on a Saturday. It is a historical festival marking the escape of the Ve people from the tyranny of King Agorkorli of Notsie in the present day Republic of Togo in the 17th century.
